Andrea Calle, the Face of the MMA Organization Combate Americas

by

What’s good fight fans? Today I will be sitting down with the lovely and talented face of Combate Americas Andrea Calle. Andrea has an extensive knowledge of MMA and is well respected by the fighters and her peers in the media. Let’s have a seat and find out a little more about her and what led her to be where she is today.

I am aware that fans of MMA and especially fans of Combate Americas already know who she is. I wanted her to tell new readers and fans a little about herself. Andrea has been covering MMA for the past 7 years. In the beginning, she was on a TV show called El Octagano. They were the first Spanish outlet covering MMA in the United States. She was also the first latina covering the sport of MMA in the USA. She felt honored to have the opportunity to learn and grow with them while covering regional events such as Fight Time and CSA. She also covered major events like Bellator, UFC, Strikeforce, and The World Series of Fighting.

Andrea is much more than a pretty face and a highly skilled media personality. She has a resume on par with the best of professionals. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international finance and marketing from the University of Miami. A degree in that field, from such a credible college, is not be easily obtained. She also holds a masters degree in entertainment business from Full Sail University.

With such a hard earned and time-consuming educational background, I wanted to know what made her choose the path to MMA media. Andrea said it has become her passion more than anything else. “It has never felt like a job” she said. Since she did her first interview with boxing legend Hector “Macho” Camacho and UFC star Clay Guida, she knew what she wanted to do. She said that she was nervous and excited at the same time. That was the moment she had figured out what she was meant to do for the rest of her life.

Andrea said that she changed her educational path and decided to go to broadcasting school. She studied everything about MMA. Magazines, books, watching fights, and everything in between became her priority. She said that she went back and watched every UFC event from number 1 to learn everything she could and to see how the sport has evolved. It has been “a long but rewarding journey for me” she stated. One thing that makes her smile is the fact that she is able to live out her dream and make a living while doing it. That is something that not everyone has a chance to do.

Conoce a Andrea Calle, primera mujer latina en cubrir las MMA

By:

How MMA Broadcaster Andrea Calle Battles Perfection While Staying Humble

by

Please tell us about yourself and what you do?

I am a MMA broadcaster, I was born in Medellin Colombia, I consider myself a humble, loving, intelligent, woman with big dreams and goals.

Can you tell us a bit about any upcoming projects that you are working on?

I am excited and looking forward to start shooting season 2 of the “Combate America” tv reality show. I am the host www.mun2.tv/combate

Do you find the pressures of being performer / artist significant with regard to feeling the need to have a “perfect” body?

The perfect body doesn’t exist, but i do take care of myself because i want to conserve and be healthy for many years to come.

If so, how do you navigate through that terrain? I have done some fitness competitions and I think I am a hard core fan of fitness. You can see some of my videos at www.instagram.com/andreacalletv

How do you “not” judge yourself when others (critics, audience members, producers, etc.) “judge” you based on outward measures?
I think that by being in the public eye you can’t avoid being judged, I have learned to take criticism with love and just see if there is anything I need to learn from it, like if it has a real value to it. If not I just ignore it, because it can be just pure envy.

Who were the role models in your life?
My mother, the strongest most dedicated and loving human being I know

What do you define as beautiful?
A beautiful person is the person that is amazing in the interior and exterior.

Talking With Combate Americas Host Andrea Calle

By Timothy Gilbert

When UFC founder Campbell McLaren made the decision to create his new MMA reality show, Combate Americas, it needed a host, someone with experience and knowledge in MMA and who could help tap into the Latin American market his show was targeting. Andrea Calle was the perfect fit.

“I’m a broadcaster that’s my main focus, especially in MMA broadcasting,” Calle told Full Contact Fighter recently.

“I’ve been doing it for the past four years. We started with a show called El Octagono where we cover MMA.”

During Calle’s illustrious career, she has modeled, performed in fitness competitions and won numerous broadcast awards, namely the Florida MMA Award for best media personality in 2012 and 2013, all before becoming host of Combate Americas.

“What drives me, I think, is my mom,” she said.

“I lost my dad when I was very young, I was only 11 years old when he died. And she’s always been a warrior, she’s been a fighter.”

“So just seeing her never giving up, she leads by example. You don’t want to let somebody like that down.”

But she wasn’t always focused on MMA and broadcasting, the University of Miami graduate with a B.A. in International Finance and Marketing had to take major steps to get to where she is.

“The guys from El Octagono they believed in me they told me we’ll teach you what you need to know,” she said…
